Most people are feeding themselves with nutrient deficient food, and the nutrient-deficient food is food that has been highly refined highly processed and uses up more nutrients in the body to process it than it actually gives us and we end up being malnourished, so even if we are large, even obese people are malnourished, because they do not have nutrient-rich foods. So what happens is that the body actually takes nutrients as it is eating those refined foods in the requirements to actually process it through your system, in other words, to chew your food, swallow it, digest it, absorb it… Do all those things, requires nutrients and energy, and actually has to find those nutrients from somewhere else. The body finds it from your bones, muscles, and storage of where you have eaten something in the past of some value. What the body does is it actually does that, in order to keep you alive today, but it doesn’t think about tomorrow or 10 years time. It can only do things to keep you alive today. So that is basically your heart and your lungs that are going to be kept going. The rest of your body will just start to deteriorate.
As an example, a can of Coca-Cola has 8 teaspoons of sugar in it. That is the equivalent of 1.8 meters of sugar cane. We have to look at food in a completely different way. We have to eat nutrient-dense food. The only way we are going to find nutrient dense food if it is whole food, which are foods that have not been processed at all, and then mainly vegetables. When she refers to vegetables, she refers to what we use to eat hundreds of years ago; indigenous vegetables, like dune spinach, and Amuttongulu which is a plumb that grows all over the Western Cape and all over South Africa.
